Many children with learning disabilities have deficits in working memory. Working memory (WM) is salient for acquiring academic skills, knowledge across language-based areas and academic achievement broadly; conversely students with WM deficits often show learning disabilities. Cogmed is an evidence-based intervention that improves WM that combines the capabilities of technology with live adaptation to performance with the human factor of managing motivation of the user through coaching. The software adapts live to the performance of the user to continually challenge their WM capacity. The program has consistently resulted in significant improvement in WM and attention among children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and other disorders.
